Active Rehab in Surrey and Abbotsford, BC

Active Rehab is science-based treatment that includes special exercise programs tailored individually for each client to improve movement, heal injuries, and/or reduce pain. Active Rehab is typically done under the care and supervision of a kinesiologist.

What is a Kinesiologist?

A kinesiologist is an expert on body movement and he or she will have at least a four-year degree in kinesiology or a related field. Kinesiologists have a thorough understanding of how the body can and should move. Therefore, they will be able to assess why your movement is restricted or painful, and how to make it better.

Body movement involves not just bones and nerves, but also muscle groups, tendons and ligaments. A kinesiologist is going to be familiar with all of those moving parts and how they work together in order to be able to create an exercise plan for the client to increase strength and flexibility.

What to Expect With An Active Rehab Plan

For an Active Rehab plan, your kinesiologist will take a detailed medical history and probably ask you questions about your lifestyle, how an injury may have occurred, and your goals. Then he or she will want to carefully watch how you move and what movements you are having problems with. Then the kinesiologist can come up with a treatment plan of exercises and teach you to do them. Follow-up visits will help narrow the focus on any continuing problems and help you to continue to improve and solidify your gains.
