What Is An RMT?

Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) in BC have the highest level of training in orthopedic and postural assessment, treatment techniques and rehabilitative exercise in North America. At Totalcarehealth.ca we have extensive experience with post MVA injuries, sport injuries, overuse injuries, pregnancy massage, as well as visceral massage therapy. Therapeutic massage is used to treat a wide variety of ailments, such as headaches, chronic muscle tension, tendonitis, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, knee pain, low back pain, whiplash and more. We use specific postural and orthopedic testing to pin point the cause of your pain. Both chronic and acute pain syndromes can be treated using techniques like myofascial release, trigger point release, muscle energy technique, deep tissue, swedish massage and more.

A customized treatment plan can be developed by your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) to alleviate your symptoms, address any underlying causes (like poor posture and lifestyle habits), and prevent your symptoms from returning.

Team members work with you to communicate your condition and goals to our massage therapists so they can be an effective part of an overall health and treatment strategy. Ultimately, the massage treatments you experience will take you to a new level of total health — not just temporary relief — that you can continually build upon.

Registered Massage Therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option. The foundation of massage therapy treatment is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage Therapists today use their extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology combined with traditional Swedish and modern massage therapy techniques to treat their patients. Indications for massage therapy are discomfort, pain and physical limitations associated with everyday stress, occupational stress, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions. Massage therapy can be an important part of your health maintenance plan by reducing or eliminating pain, improving joint mobility, improving circulation, improving lymphatic drainage and reducing muscular tension. RMTs are able to treat both acute and chronic conditions, work with a wide variety of patients of all ages in the treatment of illness, injury rehabilitation and disability.

Registered Massage Therapy in British Columbia is regulated by the College of Massage Therapy of BC. All of our practitioners have graduated from an accredited school, passed registration exams and are a member in good standing with the college.
